” Hallelujah ” By Leonard Cohen – Ukulele Playalong

Ukulele Chords & Lyrics On 2 Sheets ( PDF ) This song originally released in 1984 on Leonard Cohen's album "Various Positions". We used this version for this ukulele tutorial. It's written in the key of C major with a 6/8 beat. The tempo varies around 56 bpm. The strumming is very simple, just alternating up- and down strokes. Try to keep up with the rhythm. If you can play this playalong, you might try some more difficult strumming patterns. Mr Cohen once told Bob Dylan that it took him two years to write the song. More than 100 renditions of the song have been recorded. Jeff Buckley recorded one of the best-known versions of "Hallelujah" for his album "Grace" in 1994. The rendition of John Cale ( former Velvet Underground member ) was used for the score of "Shrek". Friendly Fred

These tutorials are done so well – thank you. One suggestion for the website would be to show the cords used in the song. For a beginner with about 6 chords it would be great to know if I have a shot at being able to play it before I click it. Apart from that great stuff.

      Hi Arn,

we usually put a link with the chord sheet on the blog. But it’s a good idea to show all used chords in the beginning of the video.
