Ukulele Country – kmklw & FriendlyFred ” Deep In The Heart Of Texas “
I just went to my friend Michael who runs a music school in downtown Berlin.
We recorded " Deep in the heart of Texas ".
This song was composed during world war 2 in 1941.
It features lyrics by June Hershey and music by Don Swander.
The best known version was performed by Gene Autry in the western flick " Heart of Rio Grande " ( 1942 ).
Beside ukulele and guitar lessons Michael offers workshops where you can build your own cajon from time to time.
You can find his web site here. The next cajon workshop is 22. and 23. of march 2014. Even though the page is in German, you'll get along in English too.
Maybe I'll make a workshop for ukulele country licks, which will cover Carter-style bluegrass picking, double stops and so on.
For the moment you might take a look at my workshop " Easy Blues licks ". Blues is not so far away from Country.
