From Major To Minor – Baritone Ukulele Strumming Impro

I jammed with my Ortega RUE14FMH. This baritone ukulele has a warm sound and a nice wood grain. A guitar engineer set up this uke for me. I replaced the plastic rings in the tuners with metal washers, now it holds the tune. The standard tuning of baritone ukuleles is D G B E. Like the first four strings of a guitar. I prefer to lower the first string 2 notes. So I get the tuning of D G B D'. This is Open G - or Dropped D - tuning. I like to play in Open G on the guitar so I just transfered it to the ukulele. Among guitar players Open G- tuning is often used by Blues musicians or in Hawaiian Slack key. I use Fluorocarbon strings by Martin on my baritone ukulele. I prefer a higher tension of the strings. I took a M630 set and put on the 3rd and 4th string. The second string is from a M620 tenor set ( 0,71 mm ). The first string is the B - string from the M630 set ( 0,65 mm ). D' 1st 0,65 mm ( 0.0256 inch ) Clear Fluorocarbon B 2nd 0,71 mm ( 0,0280 inch ) Clear Fluorocarbon G 3rd 0,86 mm ( 0,0340 inch ) Aluminium Wound on Nylon D 4th 0,89 mm ( 0,0350 inch ) Copper on Nylon
