L'Italiano is a song written by Toto Cutugno. He performed it first at the San Remo Festival in 1983.
I play it on my Ovation Applause UAE 20 ( soprano ).
It's tuned in Dropped D - tuning ( D G B D' ).
My version is a fourth deeper than the original.
I use Em, Am, Em7 and G.
Nicely done. That’s an unconventional way to hold your uke… very guitar. I’ll sometimes do this myself, but standing up. I can only do this for songs that don’t need much moving about… as I don’t use a strap…
You’re right I hold the uke like a classical guitar. For me it’s the easiest way. It’s a steady and relaxed position. Thanx for your comment.
Fantastico !
Mille grazie.
Would you kindly – please teach a novice version or a more detailed version of this video?
I truly want to learn to play this , thank you~
Hi cannoliqueen.
I played this song all by the ear. As I mentioned in the blog post, it’s a rather unusual tuning that I use. You might play it with a low 4th string and tune the first string two notes down ( G C E G or A D F# A ). Or use a baritone uke and tune the first string two tones down. I use open strings whenever possible.I don’t have tabs for my version. I hope this helped a little bit. If you are a novice you might take a look at my tutorial videos in standard tuning.
Best wishes Fred.
Greatly played indeed.
It’s been two years now since you released this video. As such, I was wondering if you have ever published the tabs somewhere?
Cheers
Saif
Thanks Saif,
just played it by the ear, no tabs.
Cheers
